Mark Zimmerman has worked in the IT industry for over 26 years. He earned a BS in Industrial Engineering from Kent State University in Ohio with an emphasis in electronic communication. Mark started out as a control systems engineer working in factory automation and then branched out as an IT – Networking consultant in the late 1980s. He then moved to Virginia to work for the Virginia Community college system.
Mark gained critical networking skills working as a Systems Engineer in Virginia for 8 years. He obtained Cisco Certifications such as CCNA and CCNP then moved to NC to work for Cisco Systems. Mark Obtained his Cisco CCIE in March of 2003. He worked for Cisco Systems for 11 years, spending 9 of those years on the Security Virtual team. In 2011, Mark changed roles to work for a large national consultant, Worlde Wide Technology. While working at WWT Mark started to partner with Palo Alto Networks and their products. He was very impressed with the technology and was able to join the Palo Alto Networking team in 2013. Mark has earned many additional certifications – Palo Alto Networks PCNSE – and SAN’s GIAC certification GCIH. Mark Spends the majority of his time continuing to learn about the security industry and the constant changing threat landscape.
